Allen's Chipmunk (Tamias senex)is a species of rodent in the Sciuridae family. It is endemic to the United States. The main populations are found in California, specifically the humid forests of the mountainous areas of Northern California including the Northern Coastal Range of California, the Trinity Alps, the Siskiyou, and the Sierra Nevada as far south as Fresno. They stretch into Oregon's Warner Mountains, and reach into the Nevada side only around The Tahoe basin . It is also called the Shadow Chipmunk by Jameson & Peeters (1988) and Thrington and Hoffman (2005).
